Wedgwood Sage Green Jasperware Pitcher with Classical Reliefs

Description

Wedgwood sage green jasperware pitcher with applied white classical bas-relief decoration in the neoclassical style. The vessel is designed with an ovoid body, a tapering neck, a pinched spout, and a single loop handle accented by an applied foliate motif at the top. The central frieze depicts two distinct classical vignettes: one side shows two draped female figures tending a flaming altar atop a pedestal, while the reverse side features a woman holding a bird standing beside a winged putto on a plinth, situated next to a stylized tree. The neck and lower body are ornamented with bands of interlaced floral and geometric patterns. The piece is constructed of matte-finished stoneware with a glazed interior. The base is impressed with the marks WEDGWOOD and ENGLAND, along with the letters F and C and the number 30. A circular white paper sticker with a black border reading RUBIN COLLECTION is affixed to the underside.
